Kept by the Power of God
All who have been born from above to a living hope, have the promise that they will be kept by the power of God through faith, for salvation. Consider this promise in the following passages.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5
Jude wrote His epistle
“To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ.” Jude 1:1
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 1 Thes 5:24,25
Our God is faithful and will complete every work of salvation which He begins. Phil 1:6
Jesus said "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:44
"And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:40
Security and departing from iniquity Christ’s sheep are those whom the Father gave Him before the foundation of the world. They are characterised by the fact that they hear His voice, believe in Him and follow Him by keeping his commandments.
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. John 10:26-29
In this passage the fact that Christ knows His sheep is linked with the promise of eternal life, based on the power of God to keep them.
Jesus said, "I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me." John 10:14
The fact that Christ knows His sheep is linked their eternal security and with their departing from iniquity. We find this as a foundation principle of the gospel in 2 Tim 2:19...
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
