The Bible gives a number of characteristics of those who have been born of God. These are in no way requirements or conditions we must meet in order to be born again. They are the results of God’s work of grace alone Eph 2:5

They are also our responsibility. 2 Peter 1:5-11

One who has been born of God:

Loves other Christians. 1 John 3:14 1 John 4:7
Believes that Jesus is the Christ. 1 John 5:1
Practises righteousness. 1 John 2:29
Heeds the warnings of the gospel. Rom 8:13 1 Cor 6:9,10 Gal 5:19-21 Eph 5:3-7
Overcomes the world through faith in Christ. 1 John 5:4,5
Has the law of God in the mind and in the heart. Heb 8:10 Heb 10:16
Delights in the law of God. Rom 7:22 Ps 1:1,2
Hates sin. Rom 7:15,24
Has a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3,4
