The truth of the Gospel is authenticated by detailed fulfillment of the prophetic Scriptures. Throughout the New Testament it is emphasized that the events of the Gospel occurred "that the Scripture might be fulfilled" or "according to the Scriptures."

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled , said, I thirst. John 19:28

For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures ; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures 1 Cor 15:3,4

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arises in your hearts. 2 Peter 1:19
